( the feeling of it )

On the edge of Corbett, where the sal forest begins and the Ramganga runs cold from the hills — thirteen acres of trees and birdsong, and the low certainty that something wild is close.

( the story )

A family-run eco-luxury resort on 13.5 wooded acres at the boundary of Jim Corbett — pool villas and forest suites, farm-to-table Kumaoni cooking, an L'Occitane spa, and 250 kinds of bird in the trees.

Aahana is a family-run forest resort on thirteen and a half acres at the very edge of Jim Corbett, India's oldest national park. What was once bare land is now a small wilderness of its own — more than four and a half thousand trees, 250 species of bird, fifty kinds of butterfly — with four-bedroom pool villas and forest-facing suites set quietly among them. The days move between the wild and the still: dawn safaris after tiger and elephant, farm-to-table Kumaoni cooking picked from the garden that morning, buggy rides and riverside picnics on the Ramganga, and the only L'Occitane spa in Corbett. The whole place is built on biophilic principles and recycles every drop of its water — luxury that leaves the forest better than it found it.

A day here

Dawn

Out through the park gate in the dark for the morning safari — alarm calls, dew, the held breath of the forest before it decides whether to show you a tiger.

Midday

The heat spent in shade. A Kumaoni thali picked from the garden that morning, a swim, the long green afternoon with nothing asked of you.

Evening

A buggy ride down the forest track, or a picnic laid by the Ramganga, the river carrying the day away stone by stone.

Night

A fire on the lawn, dinner under the trees, the jungle audible in the dark just past the lamplight.

The experience

The wild at the gate

The wild at the gate

Corbett — India's oldest national park — begins minutes from your door. Dawn and afternoon safaris go out after tiger and elephant, and 250 species of bird have been counted on the estate alone. You come back a little changed, every time.

Rooms in the trees

Rooms in the trees

Forest-facing suites and four-bedroom pool villas, all timber, stone and calm, set back among four and a half thousand trees. You wake to birdsong and the green pressing at the glass.

The table, from the garden

The table, from the garden

Farm-to-table cooking picked the same morning — a copper Kumaoni thali, a private dinner by the pool, a riverside picnic. The soul of the mountains, in every bite.

By the Ramganga

By the Ramganga

The river runs cold and clear along the forest edge. A picnic on the stones, a buggy ride down the track, a fire on the lawn as the light goes — the slow half of a day spent chasing tigers.

Stillness, and an L'Occitane spa

Stillness, and an L'Occitane spa

Morning yoga, forest bathing, and the only L'Occitane spa in Corbett — skylit treatment rooms and Provençal botanicals to put back down whatever the forest stirred up.

( plan your stay )

Corbett gives you the forest and the resort gives you the softness to receive it — safaris that quicken the pulse, then a spa and a slow table that put it back down. You leave rinsed clean, the way a few days of trees and river always leave you.

Come for the tiger. Leave to the sound of the river.

best time to visit — November to June — Corbett's safari season, cool and clear through winter with migratory birds on the estate; the park's core zones close during the monsoon.
