ideal for

Yoga Retreat

( the feeling of it )

The Cycladic island closest to Athens, and the one almost nobody goes to. Seven suites, one bay, no crowd.

( the story )

Seven stone suites above a remote bay on the Greek island of Kea, with a working farm, an olive grove, a vineyard and a kitchen fed by all three.

Kea is the Cycladic island closest to Athens and the one fewest people bother with, which is exactly its argument. The retreat sits tucked into a stony mountain range above Psathi Bay, built in the traditional Kea style, holding just seven private suites facing the Aegean. It runs as a farm as much as a hotel: a vegetable garden, a large olive grove and a vineyard supply Lygaria Farm & Kitchen, filled out by neighbouring farmers. Yoga and meditation happen with the sea below and nothing else in the frame, and because there are only seven suites, one group can quietly take the whole thing.

( field notes, dawn to night )

A day here

early

Practice with the Aegean below and the whole bay empty, because it usually is.

morning

Down to Psathi to swim off the rocks before the sun gets serious about it.

afternoon

The olive grove, the vineyard, and the long Greek middle of the day nobody fights.

evening

Lygaria's table, everything from the farm, wine from the vines you walked through.

( worth underlining )

What sets it apart

Seven private suites in traditional Kea stonework, above remote Psathi Bay

A working farm on site — vegetable garden, large olive grove and vineyard

Lygaria Farm & Kitchen, cooking what the farm hands over that day

Set into a stony mountain range with the Aegean directly below

An hour from Athens by ferry, and almost no one goes

Small enough that a single group can take the whole place
