ideal for

Yoga Retreat

( the feeling of it )

A bamboo shala standing on the sand at Sanur, where the practice has the sea running underneath it.

( the story )

A beachfront bamboo shala on Sanur running four classes a day and Yoga Alliance teacher trainings, operated as a charitable foundation.

The shala at Power of NOW Oasis is bamboo, open-sided, and sits on the white sand at Sanur, facing the lagoon — you practise with the sea audible in the background. Four classes run every day across Hatha, Yin, Vinyasa and Iyengar, open to all levels. The teacher trainings are twenty-seven days, Yoga Alliance certified, Hatha and Vinyasa based, and capped at twenty students so nobody disappears into the back row. The place is structured as a charitable foundation: part of what it earns funds scholarships putting local Balinese students through the same trainings. Accommodation is at its own boutique hotel or nearby.

( field notes, dawn to night )

The lagoon flat and pink, the shala already open, practice with the tide close by.

Coffee on the sand, and the long unhurried gap Bali gives you before anything else.

Yin, or Iyengar, or the fourth class of the day if you have the appetite for it.

The beach path, warungs lighting up, and the sea doing very little all night.
