What brings people here

in their words

  • “I keep asking the big questions.”

  • “I want a teacher, not only a technique.”

  • “I am drawn to Buddhism, or to yoga's older texts.”

How it begins

The first session
A conversation about what you are asking and where you have looked, then a text, a practice or a question to take away and live with.
Where, how long, how much
Most sessions are online and last 30 to 60 minutes. Each practitioner sets their own price and you pay them directly; HAWA takes no commission.
If it is not right
That is all right. Tell the practitioner, or write to us, and we will help you find someone else.

Questions about philosophy & wisdom

Do I need to follow a tradition?

No. You can come with curiosity alone. Some of these teachers are rooted in a lineage and will say so; none of them asks you to believe anything.

Online or in person?

Most sessions are online, so you can begin from home, wherever you are. Many practitioners also meet in person or lead retreats; each profile says what they offer and where they are based.

How do I choose someone in Philosophy & Wisdom?

Start with the person whose way of describing their work sounds like you. Read their profile, see what they say they help with, and contact them directly: many offer a short first conversation. If it is not the right fit, tell them, or write to us and we will help you find someone else.

Not sure who is right for you?

Take the four-minute reflection, or ask a real person to help you choose.
